Over 20 traffic control system supports installed on M-4 Don at Losev – Pavlovsk bypass

Traffic control automated system (TCAS) supports were mounted as part of Losev – Pavlovsk Bypass Construction Project on M-4 Don Highway in Voronezh Region. Particularly, 12 four-lane wide double-span supports and two-lane wide 14 one-span supports were installed. Moreover, 37 dynamic indicator panels and 76 variable message signs will be installed on these U-shaped supports. TCAS peripheral equipment will be mounted on masts along the road.

105 video surveillance cameras will monitor the traffic on the bypass. In addition, more than 60 traffic detectors will be installed to automatically define the car parameters and provide traffic data.

Six weather stations will transfer current weather conditions. The data will be further processed in the control station. Dynamic indicator panels will show timely warnings of snow storms, rain or possible ice layers on the road surface.

Losev – Pavlovsk bypass is a new 85 km long four-lane road. It crosses Bobrovsk, Pavlovsk and Verkhny Mamon districts in Voronezh Region. The road lies far from the settlements. When the traffic is resumed, cars driving along M-4 towards the Black Sea will no longer generate traffic jams. In summer, Don Highway is of high vehicle density, and the current road crossing Losev and Pavlovsk cannot handle the traffic load. In addition, trucks parking on the roadsides contribute to decreased capacity.
