Reconstruction of M-1 Belarus Highway (up to the 66th km) will be completed before year-end

Traffic was launched on the 25th km of M-1 Belarus along a new jughandle as well as on the section of the main road route from the 46th to 54th km of the highway six months ahead of schedule.

The commissioning ceremony took place at the 25th km of M-1 Belarus Highway in Moscow Region. It was attended by representatives of the State Company Avtodor, the Moscow Region Government, and contracting parties.

Aleksey Borisov, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the State Company, noted that with the opening of the jughandle, the road will become more convenient for road users who are in transit along M-1, and for those who leave Odintsovo, the traffic capacity of the highway will increase.

This is another road junction that will allow Moscow Region to develop, said Aleksey Laptev, Deputy Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure of the Moscow Region. By dividing traffic flow, increasing traffic capacity, the risk of road traffic accidents and congestions will decrease.

The designers of VTM Dorproject STOLITSA LLC were entrusted with the task of eliminating accident concentration at this location. Now, thanks to the design solutions and the efforts of Almakor Group builders, there is no intersection with traffic lights at the 25th km as a result of which transport accessibility of the new outer-lying residential districts of Odintsovo is ensured.
In addition, the efforts of the State Company and TSM as part of DiM allowed launching the traffic on the reconstructed highway section (7.9 km long, 46th to 54th km) ahead of schedule. The number of lanes along the main road route was increased from four to six.

Today, the State Company continues the reconstruction of M-1 Belarus from the 45th to the 66th km — the construction of transport interchange at the 63d km is in progress. The project includes the construction of three new flyovers in the alignment of bridges and the Moscow railway ring. The road workers are replacing the outworn superstructure of the railway flyover with new arches. Two new arches will be installed in March this year. Erection work will take place within two days with consecutive closure of traffic along M-1 without traffic jams. The installation itself will take about three hours at night, that is, without serious tying up of traffic on M-1. By June, the third arch will be installed under the agreement between the State Company and Russian Railways. The arches have a span that allows a six-lane traffic to pass through in the M-1 alignment. Each arch weighs about 800 tons.

Works on the 45th-66th km road section started in 2019 and will be completed by the end of 2021. In the future, the highway will be reconstructed up to the 84th km and an interchange will be erected on the 86th km.
This year, we plan to conclude a long-term investment agreement for the reconstruction of the section from the 66th to 73rd km.

Engineering of a road interchange at the 86th km (intersection with A-108 "Moscow Big Ring") is in progress.

After completion of the works, the road transport and environmental conditions in the cities of Golitsyno and Kubinka will improve, the traffic capacity of the highway will increase (from four to six lanes) and the travel time (including to the Patriot Park) in the direction of the Smolensk Region will be significantly reduced. By 2024, it will take about 40 minutes to travel from Moscow Ring Road to A-108 using the road of the first technical category.

Reconstruction of M-1 in Moscow Region began in 2010. In particular, a toll bypass around Odintsovo was built, a section of the road from the 16th to 45th km was reconstructed, and interchanges were built at the 19th and the 27th km.
