On January 26-27, the Chairman of the State Company Avtodor, Sergei Kelbakh, took a working trip along the M-3 Ukraine highway.
During the trip, Sergei Kelbakh inspected the condition of the highway and its service facilities, discussed with representatives of the administration of the Kaluga region the prospects for the development of cargo traffic in the region, visited the Russian-Ukrainian border crossing Troebortnoe and also took part in a meeting with the Minister of Transport of Russia, Igor Levitin, and the Governor of the Kaluga Region, Anatoly Artamonov, which was held in the region’s capital and focused on the development of regional transport infrastructure.
The M-3 Ukraine federal highway was placed under the trust management of Avtodor in October 2011. The total length of the road is 432.6 km. The average daily density of traffic along the M-3 Ukraine highway is 8900 cars/day and the maximum density is 50,000 cars/day. The traffic mostly consists of goods vehicles – 51%. Among goods vehicles, 18.1% are heavy goods vehicles.
In 2012-2014 Avtodor plans to repair 298 kilometers of road, including major repairs to 93 kilometers.
In 2012 91 kilometers of highways should be repaired, including 27 kilometers of major repairs. This year repair work should also begin on a 139.91 m dry bridge at km 252 of the route. Repair work on the bridge should be completed in 2013.
