The 4th International Conference Dedicated to Intelligent Roads Starts in Saint Petersburg

The 4th International Conference “The Role and Place of Intelligent Transport Systems in of the Russian Federation Paid Road Network – Trends of Development” was opened in Saint Petersburg on October 19.

For several years, the State Company Avtodor undertakes the role of organizer of the Conference. It is one of the most relevant events for the specialists in advanced technologies and services used in modern transportation systems. 

#ITSONROAD2017 Conference will last till 20th of October and will involve plenary assemblies, a series of roundtable discussions, and an exhibition. The creation and development of a “smart road” network, safety of their operation, new digital motorway services, interaction of paid road operators – these and many other topics are on the agenda of the Conference. 

“Such meetings of stakeholders related to digital technologies and their integration in vehicle and motorway industry grow ever relevant. We have to remain in the center of the action, monitor changes in trends and offer our own new technologies and organizational solutions,” stated Chairman of the State Company Avtodor Sergey Kelbakh at opening ceremony.  

He stressed that leadership of the country and of the automotive sector pays special attention to the reduction of accident rate and to preservation of human lives, “Automatic traffic management components and engineering solutions assisting man-operated vehicles in reacting to changes of traffic situation make it possible to reduce accident rate at motorways”.

“We discuss digital economy, engineering and technical systems; however, it is important to understand that what we are really talking about are people. All that we do we do for those “behind the wheel and on the road”. Me and my colleagues in the Federal Road Agency plan to make timely modifications in the road infrastructure so that roads of our country would become modern, smart and safe,” concluded Sergey Kelbakh.
