About 804,500 vehicles passed through newly opened sections of the M-11 Moscow – St. Petersburg Highway over 11 months, namely, such number of crossings through the toll booths was recorded from January to November this year.
Distribution of vehicles along the highway is uneven. The average monthly number at the section in Moscow suburbs is 40,000 vehicles, while in Novgorod Oblast the figure is about 5,000. Most of the vehicles are passenger cars, but the ratio also depends on the site. For example, the share of trucks in Moscow Oblast is less than 1% of the total vehicles, while in Novgorod Oblast it is almost 30%!
The peak loads vary depending on the season and the section of the highway. For example, in the dacha villages in Moscow vicinities, an increase in the number of passages occurs in summer months, while on transit routes in the Tver Oblast the increase happens in spring.
Currently, the two flow-through sections with the length of more than 400 km located from the 15th km to 97th km in the vicinities of Moscow and from the 208th km to 543th km in Tver Oblast and Novgorod Oblast are open for traffic. A further priority project is another section in the vicinities of Moscow and in Tver Oblast.
