The most dynamic increase among all roads of the State Company in 2019 was recorded on M-11 Highway connecting Moscow and Saint Petersburg. Almost 11.5M of passages were recorded there, which is three times more than in 2018.

Currently, the average daily traffic of M-11 Neva Highway makes about 55,000 cars. It has doubled compared to early 2019.

Three new sections with a total length of 188.5 kilometers were opened on M-11 in the second half of 2019. Due to this, not only general traffic of the highway has increased, but also the number of local short-distance passages. As of today, over 40 % of trips are made on the route from bypass of Torzhok in Tver region (208 km) through Novgorod region to St. Petersburg (684 km) and about 25 % are made up by local correspondences at section of 646 – 684 km in Leningrad region and St. Petersburg and Sofia junction.

It should be noted that closed payment system is applied on M-11. The convenient service facilitates the traffic increase, since the driver pays only once, at exit regardless of the length of travel and number of sections.

Furthermore, a well-balanced fee policy also facilitated the growth. For example, a staged discount system is applied for T-pass transponders on M-11 when passing several sections in a row. In Tver, Novgorod and Leningrad regions, the discount makes 30 % from the fee when passing three sections and 40 % when passing four sections.
