Number of motor cars on M-11 Neva Highway increased by almost one third in a month

In July, 1,700,000 cars drove along M-11 Neva Highway, which is 27.3 percent more than in June. The largest increase in traffic (almost 34 percent) was recorded among motor vehicles. In July, 796,000 of these vehicles drove through the highway. Compared to June this year, their number has increased by almost one third.

Experts of the State Company had predicted the increase in traffic in the middle of summer not only due to the end of quarantine measures. The number of motor vehicles traditionally increases during the holiday season.
The highway route sections in Tver and Novgorod Regions were the most demanded by the travelers in July, the traffic on the section from the 334th to 543rd kilometers increased by 35 percent, on the Vyshny Volochek bypass (from the 258th to the 334th kilometers) — by 40 percent and on the Torzhok bypass (from the 208th to the 258th kilometers) — by 41 percent.

In July, the maximum permitted speed limit of 130 km/h was introduced for motor vehicles on the highway section in the Novgorod Region. The drivers were able to drive in 2.5 hours from the Torzhok bypass in the Tver Region to Volkhov River in Novgorod, which is more than 335 kilometers.

It should be reminded that for the owners of T-pass transponders on the segment from the 208th to the 684th kilometers there is a system of cascade discounts (the more you travel, the greater the discount is). This allows saving up to 40 percent of the travel costs.

As for the freight transport, in July, the number of trucks increased by 10 percent compared to June of this year. At the time of introduction of restrictive measures, freight traffic on the M-11 Highway did not decrease.
