Starting traffic on a new pedestrian overpass on M-4 Don Highway in the Aksai district will reduce the risk of road accidents

The State Company Avtodor has begun construction of a new pedestrian overpass at 1050 km of M-4 Don Highway in the Aksai district of the Rostov region.

A closed pedestrian overpass will enable residents, including those with disabilities, of the nearby settlements of Zolotoy Kolos, Kovalevka, Stepnoye, and the Almaz Dacha Non-Profit Partnership (DNT) to cross the federal highway safely. For people with limited mobility, ramps are provided. They will enable such pedestrians, including those with perambulators, to cross the road effortlessly.

Once the overpass is put into operation, the pedestrian crossing and traffic lights, which slow down the flow, will be removed. Vehicles will be allowed to move at 90 kilometers per hour. So far, a temporary traffic management scheme is in effect at the construction site. The speed limit is reduced to 50 kilometers per hour, fence is installed on the acceleration lanes, there is no narrowing on the primary route. Now, the reinforced concrete piles are being penetrated, which will become part of the crossing support.
