The first archaeological finds discovered on M-12 are exhibited at the "Transport Week 2021"

The unique exhibition of finds discovered by expeditions of the RAS Institute of Archaeology in the course of territory preparation for construction of the road Moscow - Nizhny Novgorod - Kazan, a project implemented by Avtodor State Company, is arranged from November 16 to 19 within the framework of the "Transport Week 2021" in the showroom of national projects.

The showroom of national projects exhibits artefacts from the medieval settlements Katyshevo-1 and Chaadaevo-5, which were explored in 2020-2021: metal and glass decorations, items of military equipment for horses and horsemen, household items, weapons and a trove of agricultural implements discovered in the cellar of a medieval building.

The special place at the exhibition is held by the molded vessels found during excavations of the Bronze Age settlements (Dmitriyevskaya Sloboda near Murom and Akuzovo-6 near Sergach) – these are the most large-scale studies of monuments dated the II millennium B.C. in the territory of Nizhny Novgorod Region.

Archaeologists explored a total of almost 500 km of the future highway (about 200 sq m), where they discovered 25 objects of archaeological heritage in Vladimir and Nizhny Novgorod regions and in Chuvashia. Such large-scale excavations and full-fledged study of monuments are only possible during exploration of archaeological monuments fallen into the construction area. All artefacts discovered during excavations will be thoroughly studied and transferred to museum collections.

The XV International forum and exhibition "Transport of Russia" is held in Moscow Gostinyi dvor on November 16-19.
