Russian Highways landscaped 50 memorial sites along highways for Victory Day

The "Russian Highways" State Company honors the heroism of road workers and all soldiers who fought during the Great Patriotic War. On the eve of Victory Day, it is a tradition to improve monuments, war graves and memorials along the highway network. This year road builders of the State Company together with representatives of state and local authorities cleaned up 50 such objects.
Thus, on the M-1 "Belarus" highway - one of the key directions of Moscow defense - the territory near the monument to road warriors at the 71st km, the sculpture of Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya at the 86th km, the T-34 tank monument at the 74th km, the "There were ten thousand of them" memorial at the 141st km and at other sites, including mass graves at the "Field of Glory" defense line have been improved.
Along the highway M-3 "Ukraine" works were carried out at the monuments dedicated to the heroic deeds of the capital's defenders. These are memorials in honor of heroic soldiers of the 33rd Army, militia heroes of Kuibyshev and Frunzensky districts of Moscow, as well as memorial sites dedicated to the feat of soldiers who held back the enemy offensive in the southwestern direction: the 50th Army of the Bryansk Front and soldiers of the 65th Army defending the city of Sevsk.
On M-11 "Neva" highway, improvement works have been completed at military graves and the area surrounding the "To Those Who Fell Defending the Fatherland" monument at the 563rd km, which has become an integral part of the expressway. It is dedicated to the heroic deeds of the Second Shock Army soldiers who fell in battle in 1942 near the village of Myasnoy Bor in the Novgorod Region. The memorial also includes a roadside shrine with two mosaics featuring the icons of the Novgorod Mother of God of the Sign and the Holy Righteous Prince Alexander Nevsky, the patron saints of the ancient Novgorod land.
Along the M-4 "Don" highway improvement works were carried out in several regions at once. In the Tula region, mass graves and the "Kurgan of Immortality" memorial were tidied up. In Rostov region - the area near the monuments "Thirteen Heroes of the Soviet Union", "Paratroopers" and "The Unfaithful". In the Krasnodar region, the monuments "Sailors of the Revolution", soldiers of the 30th Irkutsk Division, as well as the memorial complex "Line - the frontier of defense" and other military graves were landscaped.
On the M-12 "Vostok" highway in the Republic of Bashkortostan, the works covered the monument dedicated to Musa Gaisinovich Gareev, two-time Hero of the Soviet Union.
Each of these objects is not only a part of the road infrastructure, but also a living memory of the feat of the victors' generation. Russian Highways State Company continues systematic work to preserve historical heritage.
