Over 12 million trips are made along the M-12 Vostok since the opening of traffic to Kazan

The increasing number of Russians are choosing the M-12 Vostok highway for their tourist trips: the first summer month is marked by an increase in traffic on all routes of the new motorway. If in January this year an average of 6 thousand cars per day were recorded down the M-12, then in June the average daily number of cars exceeds 11 thousand.

In all, since 21 December 2023, when Russian President Vladimir Putin inaugurated traffic along the entire M-12 Vostok to Kazan, road users have made more than 12 million trips along the new highway.

The TOP 10 most popular sections among motorists include routes in the Moscow, Vladimir regions and the Republic of Tatarstan.

The route Moscow - Elektrougli (Balashikha Bypass) scores first place. In June, users ran across it more than 42.5 thousand times a day, both along the Moscow-Electrougli section itself and in transit. The June's maximum point at this section was 54.5 thousand cars. A record number of trips was registered on April 28 — 61.2 thousand car trips per day.

In June, on average, 16-20 thousand trips per day are made along the sections of the M-12 Vostok in the Vladimir region.

In the Republic of Tatarstan, motorists rode along the M-12 to the airport across the bridge over the Volga River about 9 thousand times a day this month on average.

The M-12 Vostok from Moscow to Kazan represents a comfortable highway 810 km long. Along the entire M-12, there is not a single traffic light, not a single at-grade intersection or surface pedestrian crossing. The highway runs across the territory of five regions: Moscow, Vladimir, Nizhny Novgorod Regions, Chuvash Republic and the Republic of Tatarstan. The construction of a new motorway was implemented as part of the national project “Upgrading the Transport Infrastructure”.
