Vyacheslav Petushenko checked the progress of road rehabilitation in the DNR

Vyacheslav Petushenko, Chair of the Board of the Russian Highways State Company, checked the progress of the restoration of road infrastructure facilities in the Donetsk People's Republic as part of his three-day business trip. To recap, over 200 km are being refurbished in the region this year.

During the tour, the head of the Russian Highways, along with the region's officials, held operational briefs at each construction site. Reports were presented by contractors involved in the rehabilitation of road and transportation infrastructure in the Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson Oblasts.

Head of the DNR Denis Pushilin spoke about the importance of restoring Donetsk's central transportation artery — the bridge across the Kalmius River on Ilyicha Avenue. It connects Voroshilovsky and Kalininsky Districts of the city. There are a few socially significant objects nearby, most notably the central district hospital, four secondary schools, polytechnical and construction colleges, buildings of Donetsk Medical University. There are a number of bus routes that run across the bridge.

Design and survey work is now underway at the 204-meter-long structure. Its refurbishment is to be completed next year.

One of the largest projects for this year in the DNR is the Donetsk-Novoazovsk-Sedovo motorway. More than 100 kilometers of road are to be brought up to standard. Over 68 kilometers of asphalt concrete bottom layer and 6 kilometers of top layer have already been installed. The road links Donetsk with Starobeshevo and provides access to the Azov Sea resorts.

As for the street and road system, this year's plans include the restoration of a whole of 46 kilometers. Of these, 10 km belong to the Makeyevka Bypass, and the rest 36 km are made up by 26 streets of Mariupol.
A major transitional road, the bypass of the capital of the Donetsk People's Republic, was discussed as well. Its length is about 50 kilometers. Today, special attention is paid to alternative routes that divert transit traffic from cities and towns, relieving the local road system.

The project is split into 3 phases: over 30 km of the R-150 federal highway, 11 km of the regional road leading to Gorlovka, and a 6 km section of the Yasinovatskoe motorway to Donetsk Airport.

Works on the project have commenced this year, and it is scheduled to be put into operation next year.

At the end of the working meeting, the head of the region Denis Pushilin decorated Vyacheslav Petushenko, Chair of the Board of the Russian Highways State Company Vyacheslav Petushenko with the Order of Merit to the Republic of III degree for his contribution to the development and restoration of the road infrastructure of the Donetsk People's Republic.
