Today, a ceremonial commissioning of the 110 kV "Pobeda" substation took place in Vysokoye, Adler District of Sochi. The substation was constructed in a short timeframe to serve the needs of the Adler Bypass under construction. Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin inaugurated the new power facility.
The ceremony was also attended by Yevgeny Pergun, Acting Deputy Governor of Krasnodar Krai, Vyacheslav Petushenko, Chair of the Management Board of the Russian Highways State Company, and Andrei Ryumin, Director General of Rosseti PAO.
"A crucial role in the development of the country's tourism industry, especially in the southern regions, is played by transportation and energy infrastructure. A key project here is the construction of a new road linking the M-4 Don highway with the city of Sochi. Part of this promising motorway will be the Adler Bypass, which is being built by order of Russia's President. The road will substantially decrease travel time from central Sochi to Adler Airport and Krasnaya Polyana resorts, improve the transport situation in Krasnodar Krai, and become a driver of economic development for the region. Over half of the route down the bypass will run through a tunnel, the construction of which requires special preparatory and production processes. Built in the shortest possible time, the new substation aptly named "Pobeda" (Victory) will supply electricity both for the entire scope of works on the tunnel construction and for the future operation of the road. This is a truly important victory both in the urban development of Sochi and in road construction. I would like to extend my gratitude to Rosseti, Russian Highways, region's governor Veniamin Kondratyev and his team, and all the construction workers for the quality work done and their responsible attitude to their job. I wish the project successful continuation," said Marat Khusnullin.
The substation operates in fully automatic mode, totally unmanned. It is equipped with highly reliable equipment, including two power transformers, gas-insulated circuit breakers, microprocessor-based relay protection and automation systems. It features an automated process control system (APCS) capable of processing more than 10,000 digital signals.
"We are now in the energy 'core' of the construction of a very important facility – the Adler Bypass. Along with Rosseti, we have done a great deal of work, and all the tasks we faced were fulfilled on time. We hear each other, we help each other. And I am confident that today's commissioning of the substation named 'Pobeda' is only the beginning of a great journey. The construction is going on intensely, the works are carried out today simultaneously on both the eastern and western sides of the structure. We shall certainly fulfill everything planned," claimed Vyacheslav Petushenko, head of the Russian Highways State Company.
Acting Deputy Governor of Krasnodar Krai Yevgeny Pergun congratulated the ceremony participants on the commissioning of an important infrastructure facility and emphasized its significance for the region: "The Adler Bypass is a project that will considerably improve the transport situation at the resort. Its stable and uninterrupted functioning directly depends on reliable power supply. And the opening of the substation, named in honor of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, will ensure this".
On the opposite side of the Mzymta River near the substation, a 50 m high stylized "Dolphins" pillar was built. The pillar is placed at a viewpoint above the future interchange at the eastern bypass of Adler and is equipped with customizable dynamic lighting.
"The road network in our country is being modernized and expanded. Therefore, Rosseti Group is constantly increasing the number of facilities related to the development of transportation infrastructure. Today we put one of such facilities into operation. This is a modern high-tech substation that was named in honor of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. And what is specifically valuable, we used exclusively domestic equipment during its construction," noted Andrei Ryumin.
