Road construction museum commenced trial operations down the M-12 "Vostok" expressway
A new museum celebrating road construction has opened its doors on the M-12 "Vostok" motorway, located right by the bridge spanning the Oka River. The first visitors to its exhibition were students from specialized universities.
The idea for founding the museum emerged during the construction of the M-12 highway—one of the most complex and dynamic infrastructure projects of recent years. The scale of the work, tight deadlines, and the application of non-standard engineering solutions demonstrated how rapidly the road industry is developing and how crucial modern specialist training is.
The exhibition at the museum's premises is divided into two parts. The inner part tells about bridge building technologies and peculiarities of suspension bridge construction across the Oka River. There are models, schemes, materials and visual elements explaining the applied engineering solutions.
The other part of the museum is located outdoors. It features samples of crash barrier, road construction elements, noise screens and models of bridges of different types, such as girder, arch, truss and cable-stayed ones.
This museum aims to explain, in clear and engaging terms, the process of building today's highways and bridges, showcase the technologies behind them, and highlight their significance for the nation.
